A flight with 301 Vietnamese passengers arriving from France Thursday morning was the latest in a vaccine passport test that adopts a shortened seven-day quarantine.

All passengers on the flight that landed at Van Don International Airport in northern Quang Ninh province had received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, with the second dose given at least 14 days but not more than 12 months before the date of entry.

They also provided proof of negative Covid tests using the RT-PCR method validated by the authorities of the host country 72 hours before departure.

After arriving at the airport, all passengers were transported to the FLC Ha Long hotel to undergo a seven-day quarantine instead of the usual 14 days.

On September 4 and 12, Van Don Airport welcomed three flights from Japan and the United States, carrying more than 700 vaccinated passengers who were also eligible to take advantage of the vaccination passport program.

All pilot flights in September under this policy went smoothly and safely, helping to create conditions conducive to the rapid reopening of domestic and foreign trade activities, airport manager Pham said. Ngoc Sau.

The government approved last June the pilot implementation of a vaccine passport program in Quang Ninh, which is home to the country’s first private airport and UNESCO heritage site, Ha Long Bay. Vaccinated or recovered participants will be quarantined for seven days upon arrival.

Quang Ninh resumed its intra-provincial tourism and entertainment activities from Tuesday, but only for vaccinated residents.

Vietnam closed its borders and canceled all international flights in March of last year. Only Vietnamese returnees, foreign experts, diplomats, investors and highly skilled workers have been allowed in since with strict quarantine requirements.
