Meta returns to Cannes to showcase the shift from mobile to metaverse
It’s incredibly exciting for Meta and the creative community to be back in Cannes after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
Since its first outing in 1954, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has brought together the creative communications industry in the South of France to learn, network and celebrate.
This year, we’re excited to give attendees a first look at the metaverse, highlighting what might be possible in the future, while sharing the opportunities for businesses right now.
We showcase the creativity of our community, our creators and our partners and share the power and possibilities of our technology: from worlds horizons to reels and enterprise messaging – and how, together, we can work to create authentic links between them and their communities.
Discover new Meta Horizon worlds with MINI and Fender
We are proud to see two new Meta Horizon Worlds makes its Cannes debut today; the MINIVerse, from the automotive brand BMW Group, MINI, and the Fender Stratoverse™ from Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Horizon Worlds is a social virtual reality experience where people can create and explore together.
MINI is the first automotive brand to collaborate with Meta’s Creative Shop to create a virtual experience in Horizon Worlds. The MINIVerse reinvents that thrilling Go-Kart feeling. Up to four drivers can experience the rush of driving a MINI as it weaves through an exhilarating gravity-defying track. Players can also customize their virtual ride for the track.
The Fender Stratosphere™ Horizon World is a guitar-shaped island, floating high in the stratosphere and offers a first co-play audio experience for creating original musical riffs. Visitors take part in a virtual treasure hunt, finding chords in the Stratoverse and bringing them together to create unique musical combinations
The new Meta Horizon worlds from MINI and Fender are available to all Meta Quest 2 headphone users in the US, Canada and the UK. In addition, visitors to our Cannes headquarters in Meta Beach can experience both worlds of the brand as part of the Meta Horizon Worlds Pavilion demos.
These are great examples of brands taking their first steps into the metaverse. You can read more about this exciting work here.

The Power and Possibilities of Commercial Reels and Messages
At Meta Beach, visitors will be able to get inspired and stimulate their creativity, immersing themselves with Reels. Our Reels Super Studio, created in collaboration with renowned artist Felipe Pantone, is an interactive experience designed to bring out the creator in all of us. Come and find out why this format is the biggest driver of engagement growth for Instagram right now.
We also shed light on how business leaders can reinvent customer communication by using Meta’s messaging solutions as a new creative canvas that can strengthen relationships between brands and their audiences.
Every week, more than a billion people log in with a business account on our messaging services. As part of its first appearance at Cannes, WhatsApp will feature a series of brand activations and experiences to show how messaging can unlock new customer experiences, including a messaging concierge service on WhatsApp that will act as a personal guide for the festival.
I’m excited to spend the week talking to our customers and partners about the shift from mobile to metaverse and how today’s products will deliver the promise of tomorrow and lead us to new creative possibilities.
