Emilie Cayer-Huard joins Destination BC for a one-year secondment from Kootenay Rockies Tourism
Emilie Cayer-Huard will join Destination BC in the interim role of Manager, Destination Development – Icons on February 7, 2022. Emilie joins us from her longstanding role as Destination Development and Stewardship Specialist. at Kootenay Rockies Tourism.
Emilie, along with the Destination BC team and her regional colleagues from Kootenay Rockies Tourism (KRT), has been involved since day one of our joint trip to create 19 Destination Development Plans for all corners of the province. Emilie has spearheaded implementation efforts in the KR region, successfully building bridges between tourism and the economic development community, mobilizing funds for communities, and developing tourism programs. accessibility and sustainability for its region, to name a few.
Emilie joined KRT in 2011 as a Community Development Specialist, then moved to the Destination Development & Stewardship portfolio. Born in Quebec, Emilie traveled to France in 2003 to work in the ski industry for a season but worked and studied there for several years. His international experience includes destination development projects in mountainous and rural areas, including mountain hut network and northern area development programs in the French Alps, international cruises in Quebec, and vehicle travel programs. electricity in British Columbia. She obtained her Master’s degree in Geography, specializing in Sustainable Tourism and the Dynamics of Actors from the Institute of Alpine Geography in Grenoble in 2009. She lives in Kimberley where she takes every opportunity to explore, ski, climb and cycle with her husband and daughter. In her spare time, you can also find Emilie coaching groups of small children on Nordic skis or participating in several community groups and committees.
