Belize Tourism Board donates $15,000 to Garifuna Collective for upcoming European tour

By Zoila Palma González: Award-winning collective Garifuna return to performing with a tour kicking off in Europe this summer. The tour will include performances at major festivals in France, the Czech Republic, Belgium and the UK.
Today, Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, presented a check for $15,000 to Al Obando, manager of the Garifuna Collective.
The funds will be used to help the band with their expenses while on tour.
The Garifuna Collective has performed in more than 30 countries on 5 continents and has been part of the most famous Garifuna albums, including the famous Wátina.
The Garifuna Collective is the recipient of the Womex and the BBC World Music Award and was voted by Amazon as the number one world music album of all time.
“The group of musicians bring the history and soul of the Garifuna culture to life and proudly promote Belize through their performances,” BTB noted.
